I recently came across a quote from Robert Watson-Watt (the inventor of radar during WWII): "Give them the third best to go on with; the second best comes too late, the best never comes."
It reminded me of a conversation I had yesterday with a friend about Zeno's Paradox (check out Wikipedia for more details) and perfection. Perfection is like infinity, you'll keep getting closer but never actually get there.
